I will be visiting my boyfriend who lives in Las Vegas (Nevada, not New Mexico :P) on the weekend of September 20th. Ideally looking for a spot to picnic. Privacy even better but not required. If it helps, we're also planning to visit Red Rock Canyon some time. My only restriction is please no locations in North Las Vegas. :)

In response to a question about why I wouldn't want to go to North Las Vegas -- my boyfriend lives in the very south and isn't familiar with the area.

Keep the answers coming! I'm looking forward to seeing new places. :)

The Mormon Temple off of Bonanza is supposed to have THE best view of the city - and I would assume it would include sunsets.

I agree with "can76chaser" Red Rock Canyon does not hold a candle to Mt Charleston - Toiyabe National Forest

Mt. Charleston has picnic facilities, hiking trails, camping and a beautiful lodge.

The best place to watch a sunset in Las Vegas is the top of the Stratosphere Tower - First the sunset then billions of lights on the strip and throughout the valley come to life, it's an awesome sight.

The Grand Canyon is also an awesome sight at sunset, but you might want to save that one for a later trip, and plan to spend a couple of days.

If you're interested in show tickets. I just heard of an awesome deal for the Cirque Du Soleil shows, Mystere, Zumaity & Ka. Until the end of September you can buy tickets for $50 each. If you like, e-mail me through YA and I will give you the web address to order tickets.

I would suggest going to Lake Mead it beautiful to watch the sunset into the water. My fiance and I go all the time. But one question to you...? Why not North Las Vegas its a lot larger now and it is not all the bad neighborhoods you may think.

MT Charleston. Go to the side that doesn't face Vegas. I live here in Vegas.

Red Rock is ok....

Valley of Fire is better :)
