LOL, emucompboy. Then for whom would writers write---and for whom would performers perform?

As a writer myself and amateur actor, I wouldn't say that we are dissatisfied with reality per se, though to also say that we are not is a blanket statement and an oversimplification. One of my favorite quotes is "[Writers see the world not as it is, but as it could be]" I believe that the person responsible for that quote would agree with me, otherwise it would have been "as it should be".

We simply broaden the horizons of the world we live in, not because we don't like it/are tired of it - simply because we can and believe we should.

I think that they just find fiction to be much more interesting than reality. Fiction isn't limited to anything, while nonfiction has been around for millions of years. Ideas get exhausted and repeated.

No, not necessarily. Not all fiction writers create fantastical worlds or alternative realities to set their work in.

I think we are all dissatisfied with reality. I mean they write it and perform it, but we buy it, read it and watch it.

Nope. I think the authors and actors are fine.

It's the readers and TV viewers who need to get a life.
