Why do liberals have rather bad reputation on Yahoo? I hear these insults, but I have yet to see a real reason for it. I'm confused becuase I'm a liberal in a conservative region, and yet nobody really cares that much. But here, I get tired of the constant insults. So why? And give a good reason.

This is starting to get ironic. Okay, why do some people believe "liberals hate america" when most of us (liberals) are patriotic? And yes, I'm in school and I'm taking US history. I aced Civics and Economics and I support this frame of government. I thought being a good American citizen meant respecting fellow citizens and the govenrment. But I guess it's unamerican to listen to our foundering fathers? Didn't George Washington himself write a letter on divided factions accusing each other?

It's not me I'm worried about; it's the what we all have come to. Difference in oppinion is great, but insulting shows weakness and ignorance. And shouldn't we strive to better ourselves?

Insulting is the Neocon way. It's not just on Y! Answers, it's everywhere. They can't stick with the issues so they resort to insults and name calling. BTW we don't have a bad reputation, its just the desperate Neocons trying to give us a bad rep by calling us names. It's actually the idiots that use terms like Libtards, Hildabeast, Hussein Obama, fatso Gore, traitor, socialist etc. that have the bad reputation.
Edit: Notice what a great job the neocons are doing proving my point.

The people who slam liberals on here differ from you in several important ways,
They are not patriotic, they love their party much more than they love their country.
They did not ace civics and economics.
They don't talk to many people face to face, so they believe that "liberals" are some fringe group, and not 60-65% of Americans.
They are bitter losers who never feel confused because they are intellectully uncurious.
They are afraid that if their rich daddies lose their tax breaks, they might have to move out and get a job.

Don't worry about it. If you pay attention you'll find that most of these kinds of posts are by a relatively small group of dedicated little trolls (a couple of whom have responded to this question) who post insults that usually don't have anything to do with the questions asked. They're just angry, immature people who get some sort of a kick insulting people that they don't agree with. Just ignore them. And yes, there are a group of liberal trolls that are guilty of the same behavior.

You'll find lots of foolish answers on this forum (look at wolf's lame generalizations).
It's interesting to note that on this forum, liberals tend to be outnumbered. Bush supporters seem to be extremely vocal. I'm guessing they're just trying to talk over the scandals that are occurring in their party, almost daily. There are plenty of conservatives who think they're converting people to their side by bad-mouthing, ignorant, and general statements. What they don't realize is that it turns the majority off and makes them sound ignorant and ill-informed.

Liberals have a bad reputation because most Americans dislike socialism and detest marxism. Although I will concede that some conservatives do resort to using childish names like libtards, it is usually those from the left who cannot articulate the positive points of their political ideals and instead resort to name calling when they have nothing else with which to back up their beliefs. If one truly believes in socialism (modern liberalism) they should be able to say why. If they can justify the belief that being dependant on government is an admirable way to live one's life, they should do so. If they think that chronic victimhood is uplifting, tell us why that is so.

i wouldn't put too much stock in those slams against liberals.

odds are, they are not posted by real people, but some kind of political pundit with an axe to grind.

like you, i simply don't believe that anyone really thinks that way.

i have brothers and sisters who are much more conservative than i am, and never once has it caused the slightest amount of friction.

I think people who sit in front of their computers posting to a politics site all the time are mostly conservatives,(I'm no different). We don't really like people in general and because we think we're always right, we want everyone to hear us scream on our keyboards.

if you really believe in the liberal cause, why worry about what others say? stand by your beliefs. pieces of dreck like the posters before me(wolf and rerugged) insult everything of a liberal nature. are they right? in their own mind perhaps.

is the country 100% conservative? i don't see it that way and many other posters in this free country don't either. go for it. stand up. be proud of your beliefs.

Sadly, "liberal" has become a pejorative largely because liberals have let it happen.

I, for one, am proud to be a liberal, and I support politicians who aren't afraid of that label.
