Actually, 5 days a week is pretty excessive, unless you have a larger house. I would recommend 1-2 days for 3-4 hours at a time. But then again, you may want more done than we do or you may have more children, so for you, that may be a necessity. My wife and I both work and have a child, so we can't seem to get all of the chores done without a little help. For our 1300-1350 sq. ft. 3 bedroom, 2 bath, we pay 50 a week to a neighbor. She comes in one day a week for a few hours and does the vacuuming, ironing, dusting, bathroom cleaning, and a few other things. My wife and I (mostly my wife because I work longer hours) do the laundry and the bulk of the dishes (the neighbor will do a few left in the sink, but we do not ask her to). In our case, we used someone we trusted (and because she is a neighbor, we were able to see how she keeps her own house). If you can't see her cleaning skills in advance, get references. She and my wife discussed what my wife wanted done and how much they both considered to be fair pay for the work done. This was done before work began.

Oh sure and guess what her name is? Old Kitty.. LOL Hell we cant afford a housekeeper so I get the job of cleaning the toliets , washing clothes, etc. I dont know if I could afford one maybe once a week have one to come in and just do the heavy cleaning as in dusting, mopping..Enough dust here now it looks like it has snowed..LOL

I am currently in college and have always worked. Some of us can't afford a housekeeper-but we can dream:)

nope..I'm the type that even if I had a huge house I'd only have a housekeeper come by to clean the vacant rooms.
