mystery.. i am sure the people around you think you are doing a good deed, but i am guessing they have not told you that most of them WILL NOT WORK for money. I have seen this too many times. it is good for you to want to help, but give it to those donation folks or something. wish you the best

I used to when I was younger. Now I do not. I overheard a few bums on the bus talking about how much money they make begging- at the time they made more money than I did working.
I had a bum hit me up for money at the bus stop (he was harassing people there) a few years ago. I didn't have anything but my bus fare. He got pissed at me and told me I was a ***** for not helping him out. I lost my temper and yelled at him in front of everyone at the bus stop. He actually apologized and left.

Also- there's welfare. They can apply for government aid, but most do not because they would be made to actually look for work.

Only to the little kids and the women. The guys always remind me wayy to much of this Simpson's episode when Homer pretended to be a begger to get money for a present.

NOT A HOPE

There used to be a system in London where you could give them food vouchers.

My g/f of the time tried to do this a few times and the abuse she got put me off it for life.

They aren't interested in getting money for food, they want it for drink & drugs.

If I get the standard "Can you spare some change" from a beggar I put my hand in my pocket, rattle whatever is in there, say yes, and walk off.

Yes, but if I'm going into a restaurant I bring them something to eat. The Bible says that we entertain angels unawares. Jesus, also said that if we do things to help others, it's like we are doing it unto Him. We may never know the problem, because we have not walked in those people's shoes.

I did but no longer. It's just used for drugs. I do, however, give to charities that take care of these kind of people in need. Then I know they have to go along with a program.

Absolutely NOT! When I see these people smoking brand-name cigarettes and drinking brand-name cola etc...It angers me. They make more money begging than most people do working minimum wage! And it's tax free!! I will not help perpetuate this.

Yes and I've purchased a coffee for some homeless folks too...you never know when that could be you.

I wouldn't call them "beggers". They are homeless, and I don't see anything wrong with giving them food or a couple bucks everyonce in a while.
