Should progesterone have made me stop bleeding already?

I have had this copper IUD for two months now and have bled every day since. Finally my Dr. has put me on progesterone to make me stop bleeding and I am on day 3, still bleeding lots.
Should it have stopped my bleeding by now? I know progesterone tricks your body into thinking it is pregnant...

I am supposed to be on this for ten days. Day 3 now.

Not necessarily. It usually takes anywhere from 3 to 7 days for the bleeding to stop once progesterone therapy is started. Of course, not everyone is the same so some will take longer. Most will stop bleeding within 10 days. If your bleeding has not stopped after 10 days, please contact your doctor and let him know.
