By far it's spy/adware and people deleting files they shouldn't be (e.g instead of uninstalling it, just deleting it).

Other common problems include needing help setting up wireless equipment.

For corrupt systems we simply backup all the users files and reinstall windows. Networking problems applying a patch to repair winsock often helps (google for Winsock Fix ).

The best thing is to get experience, have computers of your own and don't be afraid to see what happens if you delete file X and learn how to fix problems that occur. Once you get a bit handy at it you can also start on friend/family computers. Although you should be careful people don't take advantage of free labour - as soon as your confident enough start charging for your time (maybe no fix-no fee). Lastly, if you are working for people (esp strangers) get them to sign a disclaimer to say that your not responsible for loss of data/programs.

By far the biggest problem faced by computer repair is the owner thinking s/he knows what they're doing and messing with the settings, registry or insides of the computer and messing something up. Or an incompetent tech.

Business wise, probably an A++ certification and plenty of computer and software knowledge.
