What are some acting agencies? I need their address to mail them a video shot of an audtion (don't worry its professional) and I need ALOT of help! I know that you shouldn't pay for agents, and that you need a head shot and a letter of some sort (mine's below) but that's about all. How long do agents take to get back to you? I live in a really small town about an hour away from Palm Beach....... where do I find addresses to send out my letter and head shot and DVD? HELP PLEASE!!!

And follow the link to my letter: (is it good?)

You'd be wasting your time. If you don't know the basics you are definitely not ready to act professionally. Your letter looks like it was written by a 14 year old who knows nothing abou the business. Something that I can't stand about this forum is when a kid asks a question and is trying to learn and another kid who knows nothing answers it. It's very unlikely they will look at your DVD. If they didn't ask for one they probably don't want one. And 90% of the work is in NY or LA not one hour from Palm Beach. If you want to act you can do it school plays and kid's theater. If you want to persue it as a career when you get older you can. For now, don't bother. You'll get nowhere and only end up disappointed.

You have to have an agent in the city or near area where you can get to the agency or an audition he gets you on short notice. You also need to be available for auditions and rehearsals and performances and when you are in school you are not available. Your letter is way too long. You do not want to send a DVD. Just a head shot that looks like you. and you need a resume which shows you have lots of experience and training as an actor. Oh, yeah, your letter has to be written by your parent, because you are too young to sign a contract and cannot work as an actor without their consent. Now, if you have your parents' approval of your being an actor and you click on my name and read my profile, I might be able to help you prepare to become an actor, it is what I do, I help aspiring actors become actors, and I do it for nothing. Write to me at my aol address and ask me anything you want about acting.

Well, contacting an acting agent is relatively difficult, since they need to have some idea of your acting experience. Also, your letter needs some editing, besides just spelling and grammar. Try to make it more professional. Unfortunately, though, you'll probably need to do a bit of work before you can get an agent to look at you. Try to get in a union first, for which you'd need 24 hours of background work usually. Finally, don't tell the agent that they're your second choice. That won't sit well with them, and they'll instantly toss your letter. At least, I would. Don't ever tell anyone that they're your second choice, and your last resort. It won't show well.
