Ok, I have bad news, not super bad but not information on how to quickly or eaily fix this by just selecting an option in the Tools menu or Settings menu.
After careful study of all the options and settings I was unable to locate any such setting which would hide your browser search box in the first place. This is what you are asking right? It is your search box which is missing?
I am not sure which search box you mean for sure, but I am assumming you are refering to the main search/URL box at the top of your browser. Is that correct?
Unless I am grossly mistaken I think you have either a currupt instance of IE or a virus. I would assume you somehow have a currupt file in your browser application. This occurs more often that one would suspect. All it takes is one currupt file and major functionality is lost, features disapear, etc.
Now, if it were anything other than your major search box I would say it were possible somebody set a setting to hide it. Some features of IE or other browsers can be hidden by Administrators via Group Policy. However, that is not the case here.
What I reccomend is for you to remove this browser instance then download and reinstall another browser instance. Just go to the IE7 downloads page at the Microsoft website and get it.
Good luck and I do sincerely hope somebody else finds something I have missed which will help you fix this more easily. One thing more, I think it would behoove you to run a full scan on your system with your antivirus application, just to be sure your system is clean.

Have you tried right clicking on the top of the page? You should get a drop down menu when you do and then you need to check the toolbars you want shown.

The shortcut on your desktop is probably hidden. To fix this go to "my computer"
1. Click on C:\
2. Program files
3. Internet Exporer
4. Right click IE
5. Click Send to
6. Click Desktop
Go to your desktop and it should be there.

If you mean the address bar and are using internet explorer, click view, then goto to toolbars and see if address bar is checked, if it is not, click it, if it is, make sure lock the toolbars is unchecked and you should be able to adjust the top border to see it.
