The past seven months of the Surge has seen increased air strikes, ground patrolling, flushing operations and fortification on the military front. Has it worked? An analysis of month-wise data collected by two independent watchdogs — icasualties.org and Iraq Body Count shows that the number of military and civilian deaths are up significantly in the surge period (February 1—August 31, 2007) compared to the same period one year ago.
During the Surge, 696 military personnel from the occupation army and 14,501 Iraqis were killed. For the same months in 2006, the corresponding fatality figures were 426 military and 9182 Iraqi deaths. In other words, military fatalities have increased by nearly 38% while Iraqi deaths are up by a whopping 58%.
Use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) is one of the major methods used by insurgents fighting the occupation forces. The number of troops killed by IEDs during the Surge shot up to 399 compared to 235 for the same period in 2006.
A comparison between the seven Surge months and the months immediately preceding it also indicates a spiralling rise in military casualties.
Any way you look at it, the situation in Iraq is worsening day by day

At least that many are murdered in cities across the United States per month. Bring your attention home! Allow the King and his subjects their illusions!

Sorry I dont agree, and most casualties lately have been perpatrated by the enemy, civilians dead, thats the nature of the game in this war, create a pestilence and keep it dragging. In the hopes that people will get tired of this and that the reports will make it on our evening news.A tactic created during the Vietnam war,by using are media as a weapon.Go ahead and discredit the General, you wont believe any report he presents and I cant change your mind, just like you wont be able to change mine

You are a bright young man. If you agree to be castrated, I have a place for you when I take control of the government and form the new People's Republic of America. You would make a fine Ministeress of Propaganda. I really admire how you twist lies into truths and vice versa; Bill had been trying to teach me how to be a better liar, but he has not spoken to me since I threw a lamp at him. But that's okay, because I am going to have him arrested as soon as I take power.
