i want to upgrade this laptop's processor if possible, i dont want to buy another one.

It really depends on the following:
1. Up to what cpu speed is supported by BIOS.
2. Up to what cpu wattage can be handled by cpu cooler. Athlon 1G generates up to 23% more heat, Athlon 1.4G, 50+% more heat.
3. Whether you would still be lucky enough to find one of those 7 or 8 year old processor.

Generally people do not upgrade laptop processors, they just buy new ones.
