This is where you, the consumer, makes the effort to SHOP AROUND. Do the detective work and surf online for OFFICIAL DVR providers, like popular satellite or local cable providers; many of which DO offer DVR services.
You're looking for residential availability, price (which inculdes DVR hard drive space and features offered the machine unit) and monthly service charges.
It's best to have notebook and pen ready to jot down all that info. Once you've done a good job of seeking out the information---go over it and make your best selection on what's best for you and the ever important budget.

TIVO is the best I have ever used. I have used the one my cable company provides and TIVO was sooo much better. I love it and wouldn't give it up for anything.
