Probably not too well...
We may get a Democratic straight flush!
Republicans have often been very good at local elections and gerrymandering, but this time around - the scandals have demoralized their base.
I think people are thinking "Yeah right, send money... pray to Jesus... and vote for some toilet troll... not this time!"
I also think that the Republican edorsement of outsourcing (globalization) and their unwillingness to rethink healthcare has ruined the idea that they are any different from the Democrats when it comes to being "for the little guy".
Furthermore - The Democrats have now solidified their stance that women and black people have a place in their party... there was some debate before about which party was more accepting... now there is no debate.
Republicans are being associated (rightly or not) with racism and sexism and democrats are being associated with true freedom and civil rights.

You are asking a large liberal base how the GOP will do in 08 well I think they will do very well remember the base of the GOP was not voting for the DEM's in 06 they didn't vote at all because they were tired of giving the GOP what they asked for control of the congress and the white house and at every turn they were let down but now you have the one possible element that could unite the GOP like nothing else and that is the possibility of a Clinton in the white house again, and that will cause REP. to turn out and I believe they will hedge their bets by voting GOP up and down the ticket in all in elections remember even the DEM strategists say if the GOP base turns out the REP. win well I can not think of anything more motivating than the possibility of Hilary in the white house,I hope she gets the nomination GO Hilary GO.

Sen. Craig is helping out, so I see clear sailing for the Democrats across the board.
"The Republicans need to defend 22 seats."
The problem for them is that they are once again on the defense.
1st and 10 Democrats!
P.S. Naturescent conveniently forgets that the amnesty bill was a Republican Bush bill

By current polling, they won't do too well. That can change even more significantly over the next year than the polling concerning the Presidential race. But as of right now? The Republicans are going to have to fight tooth and nail to retain the large minority they now have.

Republicans will regain the seats because the Democrats have failed to do anything they said they would to protect the US Citizens.
Instead they tried to give amnesty to illegals and keep the borders open - which leaves to the US exposed to terrorists. What kind of protection is that? They gave away our rights through NAFTA and are now letting Mexican trucks drive through the US without proper insurance, pollution standards and are unregulated. Who will keep track of them once they cross the open border?
We need to bring back people who support the citizens of the United States and vote with the voice of the people who elected them. There will be many open Democratic seats if people who are against amnesty for illegals vote them out.

whitiepossum conveniently neglects the facts - these are the actual votes by Senators and it clearly reflects the goal of the Democrats - amnesty. Democrats and Republicans voted for amnesty. McCain - Republican and Kennedy - Democrat sponsored the bill. The majority of the votes to protect America came from the Republicans. Most of the Democrats voted for amnesty.
This issue alone created one of the largest grassroot movements in America. Some thought the amnesty bill would pass so voted in favor of it with confidence. Look at McCain. He sponsored it. So did Kennedy. Clinton and Obama voted for amnesty as well. Now I ask you, who respresents the voice of the people of the United States of America?
