If he is bigger, definitely. When I was living with my boyfriend I made the mistake of eating the same portions as him every night and put on so much weight! Thankfully I have now got rid of him and the extra fat!

Generally, men are larger than women and need more calories. However, if he's a tiny guy and you're a larger, more robust woman, it doesn't make sense for him to have more food than you.
Bottom line, it all depends on the relative size of the two people.

Generally men are larger than woman so require more calories each day to keep them going. But if he is really little and short and you are bigger built and tall, then I guess you may wish to eat more than him. It should have nothing to do with being the husband or the wife. Eat when you are hungry and stop eating when you feel full. If you are fat then you are eating too much.

There are times when that'd be appropriate. If she's a smaller person and does not do heavy physical labor, she naturally will need fewer calories than her bigger, more physically active husband will. That is in no way a put-down of woman, it merely reflects the reality of human anatomy and physiology. It also is no excuse for denying a woman the nutrition she needs, especially when she's pregnant or nursing an infant...

The female and male body are different, and work different. The average (healthy) daily intake of calories for a woman is 1940, and for a man it is 2550. So yes they eat a little more then us, and the general rule is a piece of meat should be the size of your hand, they have larger hands on average. But then you must also consider, height, body type and daily activity as well as exercise. And metabolism.

Depends who is the most hungry.
Usually the male is bigger physically and requires more food than the female but not always.
You can't decide who gets what purely based on that fact they are husband or wife, unless your a divorce judge that is.

Not at all. There are plenty of ladies who can and do eat more than their husbands. Fact of live is though that a lot of males are larger (bigger frames) than their wives and so do require more food.

Men do have a higher metabolic rate and need anout 500 extra calories a day. But it also depends on what each person does all day. A physical job uses more energy than a desk job.

It depends on the husband! My husband used to have a job with lots of manual work and could eat like Desperate Dan but looked like Skeletor! Now he works in IT and doesn't need as much food - he can still eat far more than me in one sitting but I snack whereas he doesn't.

Well, on average, men eat more than the average woman, so give according to needs...equality has its place (if equality is the issue). I don't think equal portions is what this is about -- it should be about sufficient portions for each...Now, if that ends up meaning equal --ok; if not, ok.
