No you cant stretch the belt. if you did then itd be loose when you finally got it on. You should have a belt tensioner that can be adjusted to allow for belt installation.

No. Make positively sure you have the right belt part number and that it measures the same size as the old belt you took off. If it does, obviously the new belt should go on ok and you need to keep adjusting it around the pulleys until it slides in place. You may need to drive the front of the vehicle up onto some Rhino ramps so that you can access the underside of the pulleys freely. The tensioner pulley needs retracting during installation just like it did for belt removal.

you shouldn't stretch them. can you loosen the tensioner pulley to make it fit? Those pulleys are made to move, there should be a nut in the middle of it. Put a socket on it and turn, the pulley should move giving you that inch you need. You might have another person to help as it is hard to do that and put the belt on at the same time.

assuming it is the correct belt. You will need a breaker bar or a surpintine belt tool to move the idler pully. This will give you plenty of space. Most parts stores will loan you the tool, or even help you put it on.

If it's the right belt, maybe you're putting it on wrong??

Are you rotating the tensioner with a 1/2" breaker bar against the spring tension?
