I just bought a 6 month old pygmy goat buck. He is not weathered and I was wondering if it was still possible to get him castrated so he will make a better pet and so I can get another goat without getting babys or fights?

You can, but that age you'll probably want to have a vet do it-he's a little old for banding.

YES you can. They can still be banded and not have to be cut on to do it. The elastic is a think green color and will be put on with an elastator. Within 6 weeks it will fall off. He will not like it for the first day and will lay down quite a bit but after the area is numb he'll act just like a goat.

I have raised dairy goats for over 12 years and have Nigerian Dwarf goats.

You can castrate him safely. It may not get rid of the aggressive tendencies completely, but a it should get rid of most of them (and naturally not have kids as well).
As for fighting- all goats fight. They head butt to establish dominance, both males and females. A male will more likely fight with a male, and a female with a female, but all will head butt eachother for dominance.

Don't listen to the first two people- there are a lot of unwanted goats- we picked up two from a shelter. Do not breed unless you have homes for them or you can keep them for life if they do not sell.

I'm pretty sure you can still castrate them, but you might want to call your local vet first. And baby goats are so cute, so if you can't get him fixed, then it wouldn't all be bad.

Well, sure you could, but 1 thing.
You could sell the babys to farmers, or give to poor farmers for charity, to release the true happy goat in you.
