i've put a new battery in it thinkin that would get it to turn over(start) but it does nothing. do riding lawnmowers have fuses?

i checked the fuse and it wasn't blown and my mower doesn't have a blade belt on it because the old one broke, could that have anything to do with the mower not turning over?

Yup.

It's more likely however that the cutout switch on the clutch/brake pedal is faulty, or the blade engage handle is not back far enough to engage that switch.
Or, the seat switch is bad.

First check to make sure you have ignition spark present using a spark tester like this one: Also spray some "quick start" starting fluid into the air filter intake to the carburetor to see if it starts and runs at least briefly. You may have a safety cut-off switch that's not being activated, so make sure the battery voltage is getting to the ignition system.

some do, they also have a solenoid but it's not on the starter you should find the solenoid and try to run a jumper wire across it. if it starts then that's the problem............

hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!
