1. Prince Fielder - .610 SLG, .385 OBP, 42 dingers, 137 GP.
2. Albert Pujols - .555 SLG, .421, OBP, 30 HR, 136 GP.
3. David Wright - .539 SLG, .410 OBP, 27 HR, 140 GP.
I included GP because there are a few guys (Chipper, Utley, Bonds) who have been in 30 fewer games than the guys above. That's just too many to be the MVP. Also MCab was hard to leave out.

Possibly but I don't think so. Only if St. Louis makes a run for the playoffs and Pujols is a big part of it. These are my candidates.
Prince Fielder: .285, 42 HR, 103 RBI
Ryan Howard: .267, 37 HR, 113 RBI
Albert Pujols: .318, 30 HR, 86 RBI
David Wright .315, 26 HR, 92 RBI
Whichever team makes the playoffs gets the MVP (excluding Wright). At the way it's going right now and MIL, PHI, and STL don't make the playoffs, it will probably go to David Wright but don't be surprised about Prince Fielder.
Other awards I think:
AL MVP: Alex Rodriguez, Runner-Up Magglio Ordonez
AL Rookie: Dustin Pedroia, Runner-Up Dice-K (2 Red Sox and it would be 3 with Okajima!)
NL Rookie: Ryan Braun, Runner-Up Hunter Pence

Yes, Pujols shere mention the past seven years in MVP talk is a testament to the great career. What Pujols is doing year after year is spoiling us. All you who do not feel Pujols is an MVP just take a look at his stats year after year. He is steady, and the most consistent hitter of all-time. And yes he is having another MVP year. David Wright are u kidding me! He can't even hold Pujols jock. Prince is one dimensional and to many strikeouts.

PHAT Albert NOT getting mentioned is a testiment to how great his career has been. He's having a sub-par year by his own standards, thus eliminating himself from contention. The fact that everyone's talking about Ankiel, Percival, et al, and not him, is proof that he's just having an everyday 30+ HR/ 100+ RBI/100+ R season. Anyone else, we'd be falling out of our chairs chasing our eyeballs that popped out of our heads, but the fact that it's Pujols, ho-hum!
He's got to hit 40/50 HRs now to get recognized. Putting up Albert-like numbers isn't going to cut it!

As good as he is he will always be a contender but I believe I will have to go with David Wright this year. He is 315-26-92 to this point with 30 stolen bases and a key reason why the Mets are leading the division.

Pujols has a shot IF the Cardinals make the playoffs.
Fielder is a leading candidate, but his chance to win the award also rides on the Brewers making the playoffs.

It's certainly possible, even if he is having a "down" season. But I'm not so sure that's in the cards (no pun intended) for him this year.
