Want to stay for a week, but would like to spend some time on the Strip, so wondering how to get back and forth.

You will need to rent a car. Primm is approximately 45 minutes South from Vegas.

At some of the hotels or information booths they may have side trips to places like Primm, like tours where you can get lunch and take a bus roundtrip.

Ask the hotel. It is not uncommon for a hotel to offer a shuttle service to and from the airport (it usually is not free). I doubt they would have shuttle service to and from the Strip or Downtown. Most casinos do not want to shuttle their gamblers to other gambling halls.

No, they do not have a shuttle to the airport. It's about thirty miles or so.
