Try making sure that he is wearing boxer shorts rather than snug pants - keeps the sperm cooler.

Take folic acid if you're not already - to minimise the risk of spina bifida when you do concieve.

Try to make sure that your weight is not too low (or too high).

The actual food you eat shouldn't make a difference unless you are eating stuff that is causing you to be 'acidic' - maybe have aword with your doctor and ask what they think.

The best advice I ever got was the get a ovulation test kit. You can get the clear blue easy kit for roughly $180. It tells you for certain when you ovulate and what days to have sex. Also, drop caffeine out of your diet, eat a sensible diet, do not stress about it because stress really effects the reproductive system, drink lots of water, consider a detox system to flush your body of impurities, buy pre-seed (its a lubricant that is sperm friendly and can help them get to their destination better). These are just several things I have heard that a woman can do. Also, if you know that you are irregular, it could potentially be an indication of fertility issues. Get a pap and make sure you have no STDs or anything, as these can effect fertility as well. I was told by a midwife that if you have only had one partne, are young, and you have regular periods, you should be fine.

You need to have sex in the days before ovulation. Ovulation happens sometime between 10-16 days before your next period starts. So figure out how long your cycles are and when your next period is due. Then count back 16 days. Start having unprotected intercourse 16 days before your next period is due and have sex every other day for a week or more. This should ensure that there are sperm present when the egg is released.
Missionary, or man on top, is the best position for baby making sex because it allows the man to ejaculate close to the cervix.
After sex, lie still for 20-30minutes with hips elevated on a pillow.
Don't use any lube when trying to get pregnant because the sperm can't swim through it. If you need lube, use Pre-seed, or raw eggwhites.
Take a prenatal vitamin to help ensure a healthy baby.
