Yes, as the previous contributor said, they are now both suspects. They are both "arguidos" which in England we call "THEY ARE HELPING POLICE WITH THEIR ENQUIRIES".

I came from Portugal a week ago and the papers there are less emotional about it all and more objective !! More analytic and less about "Portugal/England" or "let's support the McCanns regardless of whether they are guilty of innocent.
Fascinating story, though. But very very very S-A-D. How much I wish I could find that little kid alive, pick her up, hug her and take her to her parents. Ice to dream though.
I feel so sorry about the following people. First and foremost, little Madeleine -- then the parents (guilty of not they must be going through hell, poor things) -- finally, the Portuguese PJ-GNR Police. The PRESSURE they are under !! The last time they dealt with English was in the Algarve too, football hooligans and now this !!! Only the hooligans lost all enthusiasm for further street football violence as most of them landed in hospital after facing the very same PJ-GNR.
Let's have faith in the PJ-GNR. They will crack this case.
Anyway... the plot thickens !!!

The media and her family are the only ones speaking. The police don't, and Mrs. McCann can't. Due to her legal status she's under a gag order.
I predict this is a bluff by police. The are not even able to cut a deal (with anyone). They want the issue and the McCanns to go away.
The impetuous for this action is said to be blood found in a car they rented a full month after the disappearance! Another theory is wire-taps.
If this turns out to be a railroad, the police should be disbanded. If the Mccanns somehow pulled this off while in the company of their own party then they should be fried, and then the police should be disbanded, and fried with them.
The only deal that will truly be offered is that they go back to England, so the police can get back to drinking their wine, and eating donuts. They blew this case from the get!

They've been named as suspects and she's been offered a deal to admit her guilt! No smoke without fire I say.
Someone who treats their children with that kind of disregard is alreay quilty
