“Hayley Burke,” the secretary’s voice droned as the audience clapped politely. I took slow and steady steps toward the podium, praying to God that my 3 inch heels wouldn’t let me down. I could hear another name being called as I treaded ungracefully up to receive my ribbon-bound diploma. Graduation is what they called it. I called it a circus. Vicious swipes of black eyeliner shrouded the eyes of girls as they struggled just to inhale without out sacrificing their dangerously flat stomachs. The guys glanced around nervously in their stiff, starched, shirts as if they would give anything just to be in the familiar comfort of their Nintendo DS’s.
