i want to point out that the reason he pulled out was so he could play good football for his club this season and hopefully get into the england side for euro 2008.if he played in thesummer there was big danger of burnout since his team is also in the uefa cup and had an early start with the intertoto cup..so he actually cares a lot about playing for his national team.

Bentley played over fifty games for Rovers in all competitions, as well as U21 games. Towards the end of last season he was fading in the last 30mins of games. At least he was honest and said why he was actually pulling out rather than blaming a non-existent injury, like many others have.
So I think it was well out of order.

FACT Nobody played more Games last Season than James Milner! What was he doing in the Summer?!
Giving his all for the Three Lions!
Also let's not forget Liverpool ended their Season as Champions League Winners on May 25 2005 and began their next Season against Tns on July 13 2005 did anyone see the any of their players complaining?!
Bentley clearly as a Ego and I would be Happy to never see him in a England Shirt again

Bentley is a disgrace and I am glad he was booed. He left England high and dry last year. It sends out an awful message that you can pull out of an England squad to go on holiday, it makes my blood boil.
I would pay to play for England and have the honour of representing my country. Bentley has made it clear he represents himself and the only reason he wants to play for England is to bag himself a few more quid in his grubby hand when he negotiates his next contract.
I hope he never plays for England again, but McClaren is too stupid to realise the consequences of picking him and the message it sends out.

I think Bentley is a good player, and worthy of a place in the english team, why waste a decent winger? But I think he should accept he will have to win the hearts of the england fans by producing the kind of football we have seen him do. He earned respect from me by doing that TV interview, however, I think it was wrong to drop out of the tournament for U21s, when they couldn't select another player to take his place. He must have been hard for him watch them go out in that penatly shoot out.
But I have to say, I would play Shaun Wright-Phillips to Bentley, or even Beckham.

I don't think I've heard the England fans boo someone like that before. He must have felt awful coming on to win his first cap and then being boo'd everyime he touched the ball. I bet he was glad of the final whistle.

Had the chance of representing his country in the under 21s, blew it.
If I was the England manager then I would never play him again. If you don't wish to represent your country then you shouldn't.
He shouldn't have been booed because he shouldn't have been there in the first place. His own fault.

agree , he should have been booed and worse, not prepared to play for under 21 should not play for senior team, and don't give us the burnout rubbish , if it had been senior tournament he would have been there, just a big time charlie, why you think wenger got him out the door
