Honestly...?
Cats themselves won't do it directly, but their DNA just might take over a piece of the human genome.
Consider that there are six billion of us on this planet and counting....and that, on average, *half* of us, men and women alike, are infected by a protozoan that commonly infects cats too. It's called toxoplasma gondii. Even in humans where it's supposed to be "dormant" studies have shown it alters moods. Search the site below for "toxoplasma" and "mood changes":
http://www.sciencenews.org/
And, well.....it's a parasite. Parasites have had a habit of swapping DNA with their hosts--genes called transposons--since the dawn of time. And *yes*, I know, this is *much* more common with plants and their parasites. I know. It's only like a one in a million shot with us humans.
But there are six *billion* of us. That's six *thousand* million.
And, search that site above again, this time for the whole phrases, "alu transposon" and "nerve growth in primates". This sort of thing has *already happened* once before, it was the genetic change that caused the apes (orang utans, chimps, bonobos, gorillas and yes, humans too) to lose the tail, and grow bigger brains.
So yeah. Cats themselves won't take over, but some few of us may already have some weird DNA going on already for the trouble.
Thanks for your time. ^_^

Cats will never rule the world unless they can overcome the habit of stopping in the middle of everything to lick themselves.
