We cannot keep raising taxes on the working class and making them support the lazy.

I have no idea what these people are talking about "tax the rich".

You worded this question that draws attention to the fact that all us regular folks, the ones that started out with very little in life and worked our hinies off for what we have today, are the ones that actually carry the larger portion of the tax burden in this country.
They talk about corporate welfare. What about citizen welfare? They talk bad about the rich, the one's who create jobs. What about the false poor, those who could learn, and do better for themselves, yet, don't create anything?

I'm sick and tired of the left "wanting" higher taxes. History has shown beyond the shadow of a doubt that the more taxes we have, the larger the government gets. The feds don't need more of MY money, they need to learn how to use what they have responsibly.
To quote Fred Thompson, "with more taxes the government gets so big that it gets to a point that it's not a question what they will do FOR you, but what they will do TO YOU."

If they do what will they have to use as campaign strategy. It's kind of like the labor unions. In the 30's, 40's and 50's they were responsible for the most part in building the middle class in this country. However in the 60's, 70's and later they became so engrossed in the ego trip that they began caring less about the average working man and more interested in keeping their power. They negotiated or maybe intimidated the company into contracts that far exceeded the ability for most companies to make money. That is when you saw the companies first move to southern states and eventually overseas in order to remain competitive. Unions were offered contracts that included cost sharing in the areas of medical costs vacations etc. but refused to budge. So the companies closed up shop and moved.

Is company management very different? No. In the last 20 years you have seen the evolution of the "ME" generation taking over as CEO's and their only concern is what is in it for me. Don't worry about what the decision to move a plant will have on the working man. It will mean a better bottom line and a higher bonus for "ME".

Without the middle class there will only be a declining America. The middle classes are growing in India and China and in my opinion that is where the stronger nations will form in the future.

good question, RLP. i've got self assurance like my relatives would be punished, yet goodness is conscious what is going to fairly take place. So, be arranged to furnish you stressful earned and correctly deserved money away. The anointed one will smile andcontinual off in his limo to our White abode and consume $one hundred.00 steaks on a similar time as we pay and pay. The own loan default human beings might have their loans rewritten and get all sorts of help and something persons who've paid our costs and been in charge will foot the invoice. Land of hazard? i ask your self.

I don't recall ever punishing success or rewarding laziness. I would, however, feel better about paying taxes if it went toward helping people rather than killing them.

Last time I looked, 2/3 of our national debt was the direct responsibility of the last 3 Republican (conservative) Presidents, 1/3 the direct responsibility of this President alone. Talk all you want about "liberals" raising taxes, but SOMEONE needs to accept responsibility for the conservatives lack of fiscal responsibility.

"Tax less, spend more" is NOT a sound fiscal policy.

Our federal debt:
09/06/2007 $9,009,410,075,859.67
More of every dollar you pay in taxes goes to pay for the INTEREST on this debt than goes to "support the lazy"

From the 2006 budget:
Total, public assistance and related programs.
$127,984,000,000
Interest on the debt
$165.604,000,000

Wow, 3 thumbs down. Truth hurt much?

Definitely- roll back the tax breaks for the wealthy!

Programs supporting the disabled, etc...cost FAR less than war. BILLIONS have been lost in Iraq. They have no idea what even happened to the money. No one is being handed money- that is a myth. I would rather see my money go towards a handicapped person that can't work than to a big bonus for a Haliburton executive.

No. At the heart of liberalism is an intense hatred for all people who are willing to work to succeed and make a better life for themselves. Such people are far harder to turn into dependents like the lazy people liberals cater to, and because they refuse to become dependents they are impossible to totally control like liberals want. Liberals do not want people to be self-sufficient. Liberals want people to be dependent on the government for their very sustenance so that the liberals in the government will be dictators they dream of being.

Honey, would you just GET OFF this kick?

This is an obsession to you.

Plus, it's a personal rant and not a legitimate question, anyway...

The poor will always be with us. Get used to it.

Pay your taxes like everyone else and stop complaining.

Besides, you probably haul in more than the average Joe.

Ever so right! They need big government to provide that net to care for them. They need to grow up and realize that most of us want our freedom and ability to provide for our own families. We want to make our own choices and not have a government so big that it will make the big decisions about our lives for us.

I will also vote Conservative in "08!

When will our entire government stop punishing all people by spending our money on wasteful and unnecessary things?
Besides the notion that the "successful" people are being unjustly "punished" in this country is ludicrous.

They might, with how much the two political parties have changed in the last several years, I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped during this century.
