My best friends I grew up with have pretty much floated away over time. I still have one friend from college, and my best friend I "met" 22 years ago. We were matched as pen-pals. The only problem is she lives in Europe so we can't hang out, just write a lot!

We've went to the same elementary school since kindergarten and we always seemed to have classes together, and our moms knew each other then. We also went to middle school together and became best friends then. Now we're in college and although we're not together anymore, we're closer than ever.

I've known them all for over 10 years now, but they became my best friends by passing the tests that life presented

She was (at the time) engaged to my husbands nephew. You have to remember that I have been married to my husband for going on 20 years so what I am about to say is about a 12 year old boy. Her ex had an awful crush on me the entire time he was growing up. He used to sneak kisses right in front of my husband and my hubby thought it was sooo cute until in his tweens he joined the Army and asked me to leave my husband and go with him. Needless to say there were no feelings of reciprocation from me but it was weird. He still hasn't gotten over me so I just stay away because he paws at me and makes me feel so uncomfortable. But she is still my bff. She knew he was a weirdo and the whole time they dated and were supposedly engaged I told her that he wouldn't leave me alone. She even admitted that he talked about me incessantly. Her and I have so much in common and are able to take anything from criticism to heartfelt compliments from one another.

I worked there for four years. Now I work elsewhere and the distance keeps it going. Here I have no one to call a friend.
