If this is true...exactly what is wrong with it? I only ask because that's the standard line in this forum--feminists don't want equality, they want to be superior. So, do you think it's true? And I would appreciate some legitimate research to back the statement up if that's at all possible. Thank you.

I heart women, you're right. I debated about putting the brackets, but I've seen it said about women who do not claim to be feminist, so that's why I did that. I'm glad you noticed and called me on it--but there was a valid reason.

Oh snappy...let's not get all personal here. I parrot no one, but you seem very interested in what I have to say. Hmmm. What's up with that? Maybe, if you find me to be someone's echo, and if you find me to be unintelligent--perhaps a bit slow?--you could just stop answering my questions or even ignore me altogether! How's that? Sound like a plan? Can you resist? It wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least. Hey Snappy--want a cracker?

There's a difference between Politics and Social Ideologies. Political Movements have one purpose and that is to fight for their cause at all costs. Without opposition, an extreme Democrat on the complete end of the spectrum would run the country into the ground economically. An extreme Republican on the other side of the spectrum would destroy the Earth, and create many ill and homeless people. There is always a cost.
With this whole long {off the subject}-appearing example... the point is that Extreme Political Feminism does not care about the cost involved in promoting their cause. They have their head shoved up Feminism's @ss so much, that they have forgotten 'What is right' vs. 'What is wrong'.
Again, this is the extreme side of Political Feminism, but you have to look at who USUALLY(not always) goes around saying they're Feminists?--Well, it's usually the extremists. I would say that a large majority of individuals believe in social equality and being humane... but don't call themselves Feminists.

Politically, this is to be expected, as any other political movement. I'm fine with Non-political Feminism(Humanitarianism), which is not necessarily applied to all social feminist argumentation, considering some social feminists argue using statistics funded by the political sector. Non-Political Social Feminism is okay... but these individuals usually associate with Humanitarianism, as opposed to Feminism for simplicity of not having to say "I'm a Non-Political Social Feminism, a Non-Political Social Masculinist, a Non-Political Social Animal Rights Activist." and so on, which is truly silly.

--Specific Answer: Generating equality in aspects that only benefit themselves, will, in turn, generate Aggregrate Superiority, under the guise of equality.

Nobody can state anything like this as fact, but people have perceptions, and sometimes, those perceptions are based in reality.

First of all, the premise of the question is that feminists "want superiority" is erroneous. I don't think anybody can make a reasonable argument that feminists want superiority. My own personal observation (perception) is that many feminists *claim* superiority in their views, labeling those who don't agree as "Neanderthal" or what have you. Shame tactics are rampant in Feminism.

The other perception that many people have about feminists is that they don't want equality - they want to "get even." Making contemporary men pay for the sins of the father, while providing unjustified benefits to contemporary women for the sacrifices of the mother is tantamount to revenge, in my book. But then again, payback is a b!tch, as they say.

Don't get me wrong - I'm all for equality of opportunity. But some other poster (whom shall remain nameless) tried a couple days ago to push some crapola about substantive equality in two subsequently deleted questions. Seems even she was ashamed of running that babble up the flagpole.

I won't provide any research - This question is really about observations, and I'm giving you mine.

Great Answer on book segregation, btw. That was a fun read.

Yes they do and this just makes men sexist. Feminist are teaching us that women cannot get jobs based on merit because they can't because they're female. Feminists teach men to view women as weaker which is not true.

#1: The terms "women" and "feminists" are not homonyms. They have very different meanings. A woman can be a feminist or she may not be. A man can also be a feminist. A feminist may or may not be a woman.

#2 Who has and demands the right to maintain 100% of all choices in reproduction, affirmative action in employment including lowering certain entry tests and training to allow women to compete, paternity fraud, which is almost never prosecuted, "family law" rulings and on and on. The list of superior status for women is long and obvious.

Feminists demand superior treatment for women, full stop.

Pretty much seems to be true of what the extremists act like, but a true feminist is all about equality. A REAL Feminist doesn't want more or less for male or female than for female or male and doesn't need to do things like spelling words wrong (womyn, gurls) to make a point. We all know that the XX and XY chromosome combinations come with differences. We have to get over it and realize that people are all pretty much all the same and treat each other with respect... and that means quit male bashing!

Many of the feminists dabble in extremism and are just plain misled in their views. If they were arguing with a smart man that wasn't romantically entwined with her and were both hooked to a lie detector, the outcomes of these G&WS-type exchanges would be very, very different. Sometimes insightful men can see that you're arguing for superiority when you can't (or won't), and there's nothing more irksome for a misled feminist than that. Hey, women are human, and unless she's a monk, she has integrity issues. Equality between the genders is NOT as simple as equal rights. Equal rights has almost been achieved in most areas and surpassed in some. The main reason there are guys whining about this is that misled feminists have trouble keeping score & comparing apples to oranges.

They only want equality where it benefits them, rather than having total equality.
Therefore, its beneficial to them because they skip out on the shitty stuff.

For example. Equal or better wages, half the stuff in a divorce despite they didnt pay for any of it, custody of children, etc...
Draft in the military? They say, o hell no, just take all the men.

Im not complaining about the military thing, because Id rather have men out there on the front lines. Just an example showing how they only want equality when its beneficial.

I don't believe the average woman 'wants' superiority, she simply isn't aware of the superiority she has (e.g. divorce/custody) until it's needed or pointed out to her. She may be promoted above more qualified men, and not realise it, due to affirmative action. VAWA should be VAPA, the "Domestic Violence Industry" demands preferential treatment, financial assistance, programmes and so forth for female victims, women receive far superior healthcare (free screening, 40x $ for breast cancer research vs $ for prostate, despite prostate cancer killing MORE men than b/c does women), colleges only have 'womens studies' which aren't the most reliable 'history lesson' a person could get as miss out vital information, and the list goes on..
It is feminists who demand all the above, not typical women - so the title is a little misleading and painting a different picture to what MRA's say.

ps - i ♥ ♀, sorry for nabbing 1/2 ur answers but they were on my tongue anyway :)

First of all, why is feminists in brackets? No one said women didn't want equality, they said feminists, do I don't know why it says women and then feminists in brackets next to it.

As for the quote, it's true, for the most part.

Feminists want rights & privileges for women.

VAWA, lowered standards, Affirmative Action, more maternity leave, special privileges because women have to choose between a career & pregnancy (when men don't even have a choice in the first place), reproductive rights for women (not saying it's fair or unfair, but women have more rights here).

PS: I guess you could say the same about masculists.
If a feminist is pro-masculist, then she's ok, and vise-versa.

Nobody's talking about wanting to be superior here. What the women want is to be able to have choices in their lives and not told they have to choose between a career and children. They want better pay for careers that are female dominated. They also want crimes like rape and spousal abuse to be taken seriously and not considered to be private family matters, like they used to be. I can't understand why some people feel that we all should be put into neat little packages based on our gender and then made out to be some sort of freaks if we don't want to conform.
