You'll note that Astrology (well, Horoscopes) falls under the Entertainment category here...
And like brebre said, stars are HUGE balls of fire. They just look small, because they are so far away. Which goes back to your question: why would anyone think they could have an effect on your personality or your life at all?

Hey, why are you posting astrology questions in the astronomy section?! When we do that we get totally ripped up! lol
Still, we should all get on and respect each other because I love astronomy and I have studied Maths and astronomers and astrologer all used to be the same thing.
But to answer your question, lots of people use astrology with much confidence (I'm saying that rather than saying they believe in it, because often I have found astrologers don't like that terminology). It's not really so much about 'little' stars but a lot about the planets.
Also you are correct, one cannot really predict success from a birth chart. But what most astrologers will say is that they look to the birth chart to see what the person's potential and talents, plus difficulties might be. Only you can tell yourself you will have success.

Just to ask a fact here Johannes Kepler makes numerous prediction base in Astrological observation. Stephen Hawking said in his book "in shoulder of giants" (or something like that) that Kepler make those charts of predictions to gain money and was surprise that some prediction actually come true.

Well before modern society figured out that they were "little" balls of fire, people thought that they were gods and such. So people naturally formed superstitious beliefs to explain their place in life. Who could blame them.
Now that we know what stars are, usually the people who believe in astrology are what I like to refer to as, "The Crazies". These are the people in life who are crazy, and believe in stupid stuff.
Some of The Crazies also believe that Earth is flat, and some believe that it is hollow. I am not joking. There are actually internet societies based upon these things. The world is full of them. Crazies that is...

Astrology was outlawed in ancient Rome as being nothing but superstition . Some people have not advanced mentally since then . Zodiac is another superstition .

Hooray! A normal person finally! My friend is totally crazy with stars, its so funny how she really believe that a specific fact that happened today was because of the stars. I mean, it cant be that all virgos arent healthy today, or the all pisces today will meet the love of their life! And, apart from that, its only us that can make our life and future. Not stars, God, noone.

i think it's pretty stupid to think that because you were born on a certain day that you have specific personality characteristics and that you are or aren't compatible with another person because of when they were born. I know people who won't even go out on a date with someone because they think that their sign doesn't belong with their own. it's just a bunch of hoohah imo

well actually the stars arent small there jus as big as the sun
n the are each made up of different gases so they are something
and thats jus to entertain they not exactly true but they foom pictures right and they each have names that mean something so when the stars are either close or far from each other they mean something!!!!

that 'little ball of fire' called the sun is responsible for all life as we know it, can consume 1.3 million earths, and when it dies, will cause all life on this planet to end.
the only 'effect' another star other than the sun will have on your life will be for you to notice it in the night sky.
