Centigrade is converted to Fahrenheit by multiplying the Centigrade figure by 9, dividing by 5, and adding 32, or by multiplying the Centigrade figure by 1.8 and adding 32. Fahrenheit is converted to Centigrade by subtracting 32 from the Fahrenheit figure, multiplying by 5 and dividing by 9. The Celsius scale is the centigrade scale with one change. Defined in 1954 at the 10th General Conference of Weights and Measures, temperature on the Celsius scale is the temperature on the Kelvin scale minus 273.15. This definition makes values on the Celsius and centigrade scale agree within less than 0.1 degree. For everyday purposes, the scales are identical. One reason for doing away with the word “centigrade,” was that it might be confused with one-hundredth of a grade, a unit of plane angle. The links below will help you to work out your answer

F = C* (9/5) + 32
= 20(9/5) + 32
= 36 + 32
= 68
so 20 degrees C = 68 degrees F

F = 9C/5 + 32 F= 9*20/5 + 32 = 36+32 = 68 degrees

20*9= 180
180/5= 36
36+32= 68
68 degrees fahrenheit

F=(9/5*C)+32)

9*20/5+32

36+32=68

(The other equation is C=5/9*(F-32))

36+32=68

20 deg C is 20 deg above freezing point of water
Centigrade scale is 100 deg between the freezing point (0) and the boiling point (100) of water

Fahrenheit scale is 180 deg between the freezing point (32) and boiling point (212) of water

So a change of 1 deg C is equal to a change of 1.8 deg F (180/100)

20 deg C x 1.8 + 32 deg F = 36 + 32 = 68 deg C

by the way, centigrade is no more...it's now Celsius
