I am an atheist because the point has been proven. Once there's evidence to support the Christian's way of thinking, then i'll be the first to support it. Until then, its just wishful thinking.
As far as bottom line differences, one side believes in objective reality, the other on fairy tales, superstition and mystical entities...
Atheists are not the enemy of christians and other theists. Our quarrel is with irrationality, wishful thinking, superstitions, intellectual dishonesty, and all other forms of thinking that keep mankind mired in darkness, ignorance and hate.

Actually it is possible for each sides to prove their point in such a way that the other side would listen - if only both will maintain an open mind and have real desire to know the truth. Disaggreements only happen when both choose to misunderstand, in an effort to prove the other one wrong. There is actually no need to cancel each other out because each one has tons of things to learn from each other. I've heard of instances when an atheist became a believer after befriending a believer, and vice-versa. I've also heard of instances when two believers became enemies by just choosing to be stubborn and all-knowing.
In trying to battle evil, one has to know evil. To know evil, one has to become evil first. But evil is just "live" spelled backwards.

Christianity cannot be proven. Believeing in a spiritual sense can only be felt by those who have been opened to it. A true spirit-filled Christian is one who is chosen by God and cannot be discerned (how ever hard it is tried!) by any man...ever. There are as many religious leaders now, probably more due to population increase, which equal the sanhedrin of biblical times- leading churches for unsanctified reasons. I myself have the holy spirit and can attest that God and Jesus are real. But there is absolutely NO WAY- NEVER- IT CANNOT BE DONE!!! possible way to convince others with words of this. Only God can reveal Himself to someone. God sees hearts, not bodies and actions. What we need to do is stop trying to figure God out and come to the realization that we humans are not capable of understanding God. Hell, we can't even figure out how to get past the moon!

PHIL 101: "General existence statements cannot be disproven".
Santa Claus* really exists because there are: 1. eyewitnesses; 2. detailed drawings of him for over two hundred years; 3. movies made about him; 4. tons of letters mail delivered to the post office addressed to him each year; 5. continued sightings; 6. unexplained gifts left under trees; 7. rules of evidence in a U.S. court would lead to a finding of his existence. Therefore, a priori, Santa exists!

Difference? I don't see a difference. I am highly entertained with their arguments, which is why I bring my garage style philosophy to answer. The bottom line is both cannot be right and wrong at the same time... or can they? My jury is still out.

Maybe your construal of the predicament is somewhat lacking (too much a caricature of both positions and lacking sufficient clarity): Christians give assent to a divine revelation. Atheists reject the conditions for the possibility for such a revelation. Both provide "proofs", that is arguments, on behalf of the veracity of their position-- both believing those arguments as being sufficient to make a prudential judgment either for or against their case. For each, their position is held to be demonstrable in reference to certain forms of authority.

I'm atheist and I believe in many things that I can't see;radiation, the wind, cell phone signals....etc. The use of empirical evidence is what separates believers of god and atheists.

Your premise is inaccurate. Christians believe in what they can see as well as what they cannot see. Ditto for atheists. (you believe in gravity, right?)
Anyhow, the difference is always in what you believe about Jesus. Who He is/was.

its just a disagreement that can't be proven.
the best is to just agree to disagree and not have either take away the rights/liberties of the other
