Silver has been valued at about $12.50 an ounce lately. a quarter has about .225 ounces of silver equal to about $2.81

a coin shop will probably give $2.50 for your silver quarter or about 10 times face value for silver coins

You did not list the date so I can not tell you if it is a scarce date. Silver keeps going up, so it would be wise to put it away for a while. As time goes by you win in two ways one is the silver in it and the other is collector value. More people collecting the state quarters are also starting to collect the older ones too.
