I know there was a cat, but I don't think it had a name. I know she holds it when she is singing.

I don't think there WAS a black cat in The Nightmare Before Christmas...
I think they had a black cat in promo pictures to show that it took place in the Town of Halloween

the black cat does not have a real name. it is just refered to as the black cat. yes it is the same cat that sally is holding. Burton used the same cat also in vincent, another one of his movies. Just for artistic style, burton will reuse characters such as the "thing living under your stairs" was also used in beatlejuice.

are you talking about the cat that was also in his short film "Vincent"? like it jumped on top of a trash can in the movie?
