Whats the name of the sound effect?
The weird "ripping" noise used to stop music? I really want to know

There is no official title, as different SFX libraries call it different things.

What you mean is different variations of this:

It's created by yanking a vinyl record off a turntable so the needle drags across it.

(Not good for the vinyl, lol : )

In other effects libraries this will be termed a "Needle Yank", "Needle Drag", etc.

I hate that sound effect. I grew up during a time when pretty much all we had were vinyl records. Sure we also had reel-to-reel tapes, 8-tracks and cassettes but the choices were severely limited. We used to take great care not to scratch records. Once one got scratched, it pretty much ruined the recording because you kept hearing the sound as the record played.
