Yes, many people over the years. And you know what? I was affected more by the devastation to the folks left behind than I was by the loss of the person committing suicide. It's something that causes loved one a lot of guilt and is something they NEVER get over. I know.

Yes. It was a guy I was seeing. He talked about it but no one took it seriously. The night he committed suicide, he asked me to come over. The police said it was a good thing I didn't go...he could have either hurt me first or do it in front of me.

Yes. My Steve committed suicide on December 16, 2005. It has taken me quite a long time to get over it, or perhaps to accept it. I don't think I'll ever really get over it. But I have forgiven him. I came to realize he actually did believe he was doing me a favor, freeing me of the burden of caring for him. It was a burden I did not WANT to be freed from, but that did not seem to be enough.

A friend's father committed suicide by handgun. I had met the guy only once when I was a little kid. The guy was an absentee dad, yet his death had a serious impact on my friend.

Yes. It devastated my entire High School at the time. His mother use to work at the school as a sub. and she quit after his death. Rumor has it that she was the one that found him. No one ever knew why he did it. He was handsome, popular, had a girlfriend, into the school activities. No one saw it coming, no sign, no nothing, it just happened. It just goes to show that the outward appearance can conceal some the deepest secrets.

No, but I know someone who has attempted suicide many times. I'm afraid he's going to actually succeed one day. That's a really scary thought.

I tried to committ suicide by having the police shoot me. I was shot, but it didn't kill me. Instead, I was sent to prison for three years. I'm so GLAD I wasn't killed. I am out and my life has never been better. We are all so lucky to live in such a great place as the United States.
