well my daughter screamed alot. Holding her didn't work. I had to bounce her roughly, to burp her I had to POUND on her back. Those things would help the burps and also stopped her from crying. Sometimes she didnt' have gas. She was just born with 'issues' from her last life I think. Like she was not happy to come back, lol. She was very demanding. And very tense in her muscles. She is now 7 and dramatic as heck. But also much happier.
My son is just relaxed about everything and is only 11 weeks old
So your baby may be crying about gas. Or may be constpiated. My 11 week old is breastfed, but only poops once a day. So just because your baby is screaming doesn't mean that he is constipated. They can cry till they are red in the face. If he is constipated and you are using formula. You need to get one low in iron. Iron makes you consipated. If he needs help, ask you doctor about colace. My daughter was told to take that at 1 year old when she was consipated. but it is not a long term solution as the body can become dependant on it.
Good luck. 7 Years from now you will be going on roller coasters with him and laughing. Just relax. If you are tense the baby will feel more anxious
Congradulations!:)

Try holding him in a different position. My nephew was like this until my sister figured out a more comfortable way to help him. She would stand and cradle him with her arms, but she would put him belly down. (his head was supported by resting on her arm) then she would just pat/rub his back. This worked really well to get him relaxed and to get rid of some of the gas.

My baby is 4 weeks and he has terrible gas pains from time to time. I read on a website to hold him like a football and apply a little pressure on his bell. By football position I mean, his belly lying on the inside of your forearm. This really helped my baby relieve some gas and he stopped crying. It can't hurt to try it. Good Luck with your baby and your sanity.

first, calm down, your baby can feel your stress and that will only cause him more stress cause he won't feel safe. remember, that little guy is just born, his body doesn't have it all figured out yet and he has had meds. and different formulas, it's alot for him to handle. just be patient, it takes time to see if these changes are working. when he gets to screaming hold him close, talk softly to him, or try a warm bath(it may help to relieve gas pains). out of 3 babies 2 of mine had gas/formula problems.

I had similar problems with my son, we had to put him on Soy formula, but the soy made him too gassy so then we had to mis it with half soy half lactose intolerant formula. He would strain and scream for hours. Colic Calm was my life saver. It worked like magic. It cost like 25.00 a bottle, but when they don't sleep and all they do is cry you will pay anything to make it better. I could only find it online and anouther mother in a chatroom for women with colicy babies told me about it. We have also put him on probiotics which has really helped settle his little tummy and ease his BM's. http://www.coliccalm.com/

I use mylicon to help ease gas pains. Also if you hold the baby facing out with your arm over his stomach pushing in with gentle pressure it may help his pains. Make sure you burp him really well in the middle of his feeding and then again at the end of his feeding. Sometimes a warm bath also helps them relax and they are able to pass gas easier with less pain.
I breastfeed so I can't help you with formulas.
Good luck!

If you are able, you could try expressing some breast milk and feeding it too him. Breast feed babies can still get colic, but it does help to regulate thier digestive system and it is usually not as sever, pluse there will be no allergic reaction.

when my son had bad gas at this age. I would lay him on his back and pump his legs towards his head so i was almost folding him in half and you could hear his farts and they where loud and smelly. But he sure felt better. hope it helps. I also had to give him soy formula if I was not breastfeeding him

im not sure that this is the real problem, your baby could be lactose intolerant, have you any breast milk left, you could try putting the baby to the breast to see if he prefers the milk that was designed for him. Otherwise, if this is the problem have your tried infacol i used it with my son and it worked.

If you have not already tried it I would try gripe water, otherwise I would have a word with your health visitor, I find them more helpful than a doctor.
