its about pouring ur heart out on a piece of paper right?
that involves hatred 4 the ppl around u. cuz that happens.

but arent u affraid that ull die one day and then ur family will read it and then get hurt by what u write about them. cuz if i write a journal then its gonna be filled with alot of tears and broken hearts because of others. and think about it if your sister/daughter dies and u are reminded of all the horrible things u did to them wont u spend days regreting it?

i just dont want anyone to read my journal after/before i die.
i want to keep my secrets, secrets 4 ever.

I've been keeping a daily journal, I started about 5 months ago. I've beenb writing the ggod times and the bad times. Writing bad things about people and some good things. Its good to keep one because it organizes your thoughts. My journal helps to clear my mind and while I'm writing I think better. When you die if it comes into contact with someone, dont be worried or ashamed because you is only letting people know how you feel. Sometimes it good that people know how you feel, and try to keep it dated because the person reading will sometimes know why you felt that why if you wrote something bad about them. Dont decide not to keep a journal based on having someone else read it, keep it in a safe place where no one can find it. Then in your will designate a place for it to go, maybe just have someone to burn it. BUt never know, one day your journal could turn out to be a really good book.

Tristine Rainer wrote probably the most influential book on journaling ("The New Diary") in 1978. In it, there is a whole chapter devoted to privacy. She notes that the journal need to be a place where you are free to be human.

A lot of us present our best faces to the world, and wear it like a mask. The journal can be a place where you are allowed to be immature, angry, illogical, even mean. This can allow you to get in touch with your true inner life, allow you to check yourself when your anger or sadness is unwarranted or childish, and allow you to figure out what choices you need to make in life.

Whenever I start a new notebook, the very first page I always write a disclaimer to anyone who may at some point happen to read it: "Warning: The contents of this book may at times be at odds with the me you know. It may be offensive. It may be ugly. It may be depressed. This is the me that is not finished yet - the thoughts, feelings, and ideas that I haven't quite figured out yet. I write here what is not ready or does not deserve to be manifest in my real life."

It just helps me get comfortable with writing whatever I need to write. Try it. It might help.

If you REALLY are worried about someone reading it, destroy the entries once you are done. Strange as it sounds, it's better to than not writing things out at all. Remember the journal is just a preparation for your real, physical life.

i keep a journal and i believe that it is truly the only way to be a normal, functioning person. i think it's much better to write away your anger than take it out on your family themselves, even if they do find it one day. actually, i was talking about this very topic the other day. someone said that she heard of two friends, both who kept journals, and whoever died first was supposed to burn the other's journal but not read it. if you were to make a promise with a close friend it might make you feel better. also, when you are in a mood in which you love your family, write about that too because then you wont feel as bad for the other stuff you write. but honestly, what you write is your business only, and it would be a shame to keep everything bottled up just out of fear of people finding out about it. if you do that, it's more likely that your actions will be influenced by anger, and that's far worse than writing it down. i understand your fear to have people find what you wrote, but chances are you probably wont die for awhile, and by the time you are older you can take more thorough precautions to make sure no one can find what you wrote. if you are worried because of someone finding it because you have thoughts of suicide, then it is important for you to talk to someone you can trust, although writing down your feelings will certainly help. good luck! ~a fellow journaler

My life has been filled with broken hearts and broken people. Time's when happiness comes at a price. I write it all down, and have told my best friend to take care of them at my time of death. I will leave some behind, so my daughter and grandchildren can share in the joy they have given me. We all have those secrets, when I write them down, I keep them for a few days and burn them. As you said 'secrets 4 ever.

I wrote a journal the year I was 16 and honestly reading it many years later it is the funniest thing I have ever read - was that really me? Did I really used to feel that way? My journal was one with a lock on it so no one could read it.

There are many reasons to keep a journal. You want to remember all your important experiences. You want to trigger your sub-conscious to get to work on a problem or idea. You need to remember your mistakes and victories - you'd be surprised how easy it is to forget the good things you did, the things you should be proud of. A journal will help you to maintain prospective. It will help you to formulate better plans and it will help you to be honest with yourself. You will also find that you will follow through on things better - you will see your progress or your stumbling blocks. Most of us have a visual memory and we need this written proof of what is happening in our lives.

I write a journal but it is on my blogspot. I write about more cheerful events. Why should you focus on the past that bothers you? If you want to keep your secrets, keep them within. There will be no leaking unless you are given truth serum!

Yes, I used to. And now when I read how I hated my sister because she wouldn't share the basketball with me I crack up. I don't anymore, but I read my old journal when I want some laughs. And I would not like anyone to read it, especially my crush and my teacher.

I don't write a Journal.... however I do write in a blog everyday.

To me... a Blog is a great way to pour out your feelings to the world. If you don't want your family reading it, then you can make it private.... and one day if you want to release it to the world, you can make it public :-)
