I've had serious idealizations when things in my life have seemed so very bleak. It was never really an option because I believe in God. I believe suicide is the only sin that cannot be forgiven, because you cannot ask for forgiveness afterward. You can't say, "forgive me the sin I'm about to commit." It doesn't work that way.
I realized that it would be a tremendous gip to go through whatever hell I was going through at the time, only to endure hell for an eternity too. That would have been pointless.
So many people do not believe in God. I don't know what you believe, but you asked for my story, so I'm telling it. Prayer and counseling got me through those times. Knowing that the bible says that the suffering of these present times cannot be compared to the glory that will someday be revealed in us gives me great encouragement. So do all the stories of those great men and women of God in the bible who were sinners, liars, theives, murderers, infirm, and even sometimes depressed to the point that they would have been considered crazy by today's standards. Yet God restored and used them. He has done the same for me.
My advice with working out your "things" is to turn them over to God and keep moving. Just keep getting up everyday. There is a brighter day ahead if you wait for it. Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. I'm not just quoting it, I know because I've LIVED it. If you don't have a God like Jesus on your side, I don't know what to tell you. I don't see why all the non-believers don't commit suicide because life is very hard and most of the time very unfair. If I didn't have Jesus to call on, to talk to and to restore me and renew my faith I would have been dead a long time ago.
I highly recommend you seek him out. He is a very present help in times of trouble.
God bless you.
Please call a suicide hotline: 1-800-SUICIDE, or 911 if you don't feel you can resist the urge to end your life.

There have been times in my life in which I considered suicide as an option, going as far as attempting it once. Thankfully, I am still here today to talk about it, and I am very glad I did not succeed. My life may not be the best, and I may still feel sad sometimes, but all in all, I much rather be alive than dead: while there is life there is hope.
It's good to talk about these things with others; it does help you clear your head. But if you ever find that you don't have anyone to talk to, consider calling a suicide hotline. These counselors are very helpful and are there to listen.
Take care of yourself.

I think there's not a person who hasn't at least had the thoughts. But no matter how tough things get, and believe me they can get tough - but it sounds like you might already know that - I know I could never actually do it, it would hurt my family too much. And the thought of my kids having to grow up with their father as their main roll model, wow! lol No thanks! So yea, I've had the thought, but I know I could never ever do it. I don't know you, but if you need someone to talk to my email link is in my profile. We are all just kinda like one big family here in P&S anyway, right?

Yes, I have attempted suicide a few times. I haven't gotten the proper help for my depression, however, I am OK. I owe it to myself to continue this life and see what's out there.

No, I have't. I have always felt it's wrong and that there is always a way to make my life better.
Friends, family, counciling, a priest, minister etc.. someone is always willing to listen and help.
Whoever is feeling like that really needs to talk to someone and get help before it seems like it's too late.

Yes, and I was diagnosed with depression at 19. I've been medication free for a few years but am now on a mild antidepressant for life (I'm 46 now).
It's no fun feeling like crap...a good psychologist and medication helped me.

Yes I have seriously considered it before and one of the main reasons that kept me from doing it was that I believe in a Heaven and hell - and committing suicide is a one-way ticket to hell and I just didn't want to end up there.
