My parents constantly go through mail that is addressed to me, they rip it open examine it and even sometimes respond. I tried talking to them and asking them to stop, they refused. Is there a law against opening someone else's mail?

It is a federal offence to open others mail. If you are a minor however...you have little recourse. You merely have controlling parents that are annoying but have every right. What kind of mail could you get as a minor that could be in the slightest bit interesting?

Agreed, get a PO box if it is an issue.

Yes it is against the law to open someone elses mail. My mother used to do the same and sometimes still does. You might try getting a PO box.

It is illegal to take others mail but are you a minor or living in your parents home you might not be able to do anything unless you move our or just have a post office box at the local post office to give you security.

Yes, it is illegal. You have put yourself in a position to be exposed to it though. You can either get a PO Box or move. Suing your parents would probably not be a good idea.

Yes. Sue them, after you borrow the money from them for the lawyer.
