MAY AS WELL, but I find it soooooooooo hard to understand. Of course, I am not a native speaker, that's the reason of the question.

It means the speaker is not very enthuisiastic about doing something, but it is preferable to the unspoken alternative.
For example, "We may (or 'might') as well have dinner at 7."...instead of 8.

It's an expression of intent. It generally means that you intend to do something, even if you probably don't want to do it. For example, if someone asks you if you are going to the bank on Monday to withdraw money, you can respond " I might as well, since I have no money in my wallet and I have bills to pay."

Usually the phrase is said, "We might as well" like in saying "We might as well go to the store." It means that we really have nothing better to do and since someone else wanted to go and suggested it and we don't have anything else planned at that time and are sort of bored anyway, we might as well tag along with them. Hope that helps.

We now use it as a shortened phrase. Originally it would have been part of a longer sentence as is..... we may/might just as well do that or do the other...
'We may/might very well do that' is also a common expression.
Hope that's clear.

Let me try to give you a simple example........
(don't worry, I am not a native speaker either but I know the language)
-----------Example----------
Jane, Mary and Sandy made a lunch appointment for 1pm.
Jane and Mary waited for 30 minutes but still, Sandy did not show up.
Jane said, "Mary, we may as well go for lunch without Sandy".

''may as well'' means......do something for a reason.
do something.....go for lunch.
reason.......Sandy did not turn up for the appointment yet.
--------------------------
Hope you understand what I have explained :~)
