Signs and symptoms are burning, soreness, pain during intercourse and/or urination, and vaginal discharge. Vaginal discharge is not always present, but when it occurs, the discharge is odorless and typically has a whitish, thick appearance and texture, like cottage cheese. A vaginal yeast infection (yeast vaginitis) is NOT considered to be a typical sexually transmitted infection (STD), since it may be present in the normal vagina, and the condition does occur in celibate women. The over-the-counter topical treatments are an option for some women when yeast is the cause of the infection. However, it should be noted that infection other than yeast can cause similar symptoms. Vaginal yeast infection (yeast vaginitis) and vulvitis may be treated with antifungal medications that are applied topically in and around the vagina or with antifungal medications taken by mouth. Sometimes, mixed infections with more than one microbe can require combinations of treatments. Topically applied antifungal creams include butoconazole (Femstat 3), clotrimazole (Lotrimin), miconazole (Monistat), and terconazole (Terazol 3). If symptoms are not eliminated by over-the-counter products, patients should see their doctor for evaluation.
There is no need to be embarrassed to tell your mother since there are many reasons that this happens and it is VERY COMMON. The sooner you see a doctor, the sooner you'll feel better.

If this is your first time having a possible yeast infection, you should see your Dr. to make sure it is a yeast infection(there can be an infection that needs a prescription especially if there is an odour). You can sit in the bathtub with Baking Soda mixed in the bath water to relieve the symptoms of burning and itchiness. There is an oral medication you can take called Diflucan(which has to be prescribed by your Dr.). You can also take Benedryl to help ease the itchiness(but speak to you Dr. first). A natural supplement you can take is Wild Oregano(once again speak to your Dr.), you can take this and it can prevent you from getting further infections. Although yeast infections are not an STD, if you are have sexual relations you can give it to your partner and then you will just be giving to back and forth to one another. You can also use the over the counter medications to be inserted into you vagina, if you have had sexual relations while having symptoms your partner should put some yeast infection cream on his penis as well(especially if he is not circumcised he does not have to put it in side the penis).

The most important thing is that you see you Dr. if this is your first time having these symptoms.

yeast lives in your vagina normally, sometimes due to change in pH or in bacteria levels the yeast will over grow and cause the symptoms of infection. Those symptoms may include, severe itching and burning in the vagina and the surrounding tissues, a discharge reminiscent of cottage cheese and odor.
Treatment is available without prescription in any drugstore. There is no reason you should not tell your mom, she has had her own share of yeast infections herself, I am sure. It is something women experience and it doesn't always have anything to do with sexual activity, so stop being such a child and tell mom so she can get you the stuff you need to treat it.

Great fun huh? Don't worry, it's not an STD and can be caused by lots of stuff. As far as home remedys... I haven't used any myself, so I'm not too sure.

Can you walk/get a ride to any place like a drug store? Walmart works as well. All of these places carry a relatively cheap medicine used to treat yeast infections. They do not require a perscription to buy.
