Volunteers in schools need background checks these days, even for something like Head Start. In my opinion, anyone volunteering in a situation where there are children present should need a check to make sure they are not predators.

I live in California and yes it is a requirement. At least in the school districts I have volunteered in or had my children in. Don't know that it is always well enforced, though.

I think it would be a very good idea. It protects our children more while they are away from home. If someone dosent like it maybe they have something to hide.( i am talking about the workers working around children)

I certainly hope so, I live in New York and carry a security clearance license, so have never run into a check anywhere, I think it's a good law.

My wife is in HR. They require background checks for all employees and volunteers. There have been so many lawsuits, businesses have to protect themselves.

I thought it was required by Federal law. Even if it is not, I would not do business with any contractor that didn't do the checks anyway.

I'm not sure, but I guess it would be beneficial, especially in places where children are present at most. You never know if one of those people are pedophiles, murderers, etc.

it SHOULD be a law because sexual pedators could get construction jobs by schools.
