Thinking about getting one. What can I expect to save a year? Anyone with any personal experience?

I have had experiences with gas waterless water heaters, some savings, but my friends went to an electric waterless hot water heater and saved 50% on their bill, they tried a home unit, but could not wash clothes and take a shower at the same time, so they went to an industrial unit and paid about $100.00 more for it and said they are glad they did. Now they have a solar panel with a storage battery, hooked to it so it no longer costs to run it. For a family though, the industrial units give you more hot water on demand. I was told once that gas was better, but needs professional help, and venting, Electric you can usually do yourself. with no venting, also the gas one always had a pilot burning, and you need to run gas lines. Electric, find a wall, put it up, run your pipes in and out, and plug it in. Hot water only when needed. I think you will love one.

While you are "thinking" about one, check around for the prices and the cost of installation. They are not cheap. Many plumbers will install them but not do service work due to the complexity of them. Just a thought. Good luck.
