I saw this insect on my porch today. I live in SW Pennsylvania in a very rural area. I have seen these before but was able to capture it on camera today. Are they harmful? Do they bite? Are they poisonous? Should I have cause for concern? Please click on the following links for a view of this strange looking bug.

I wouldn't pick it up if I were you. It's a Wheel Bug (I've also seen it called a Sawwheel Bug). It's one of the Assassin Bugs, so-called because they're predatory on other insects, often beetles. Most bugs' beaks are for piercing plants to drink sap, but these guys can poke through a beetle carapace to inject the digestive enzymes (and then suck out the soup). I've been bit on the thumb by a big Wheel bug, and let me tell you, it hurts like anything. It's worse than any bee or wasp sting I've ever got, and I still have a small scar there. Other than the pain, though, it's not teribly dangerous. I leave them alone now, though...

Is that like a huge deal? No - this is not. And an "attack weapon" ban isn't a huge deal the two. those weapons are not mandatory on the line - they are risky and stupid very like gun paranoids.

Kissing Bug, leave it alone. Not poisonous but if you pick it up it will make a pretty painful bite. (See the nose, it's like a needle, they will stab it in almost all the way if they're threatened.)

Looks like a kissing bug to me. They do bite and they can be dangerous as they are vectors for deadly parasites. They get their name because they like to bite peoples lips as they sleep.
