In the last 150 years only two persons gained enlightenment and salvation... they were Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana! Gaining enlightenment and salvation is the end goal of every life form!

Another human being.
Without something to compare to, the need to measure would not exist.
Society determines the worth of the individual based on the majority of ideals.

All human being have the same value. No one is better than anyone else. So we all have worth....now taking the measure of man, is to judge him by his good works and character.
Some men do stand above others in their compassion and love for their fellow human beings..not many can do the work of Mother Teresa. She dedicated her life to help the poor and sick...you really can't get a better measure than that of a person. To die for a fellow human being, is the ultimate measure of a person...
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)

If you render them down far enough you might get a couple of bucks worth of chemicals and a few gallons of water.
Other than that it's what your family, friends, and even your enemies are willing to grant. If you're unpleasant sob then all you may be worth is your chemical weight. Contrawise if your well liked and respected then it's those ties that set the value. You may be priceless.

Your actions determine your measure as a human being.
Your worth is arbitrary at best.

love. you can measure the worth of an individual by the way they give their love and how people give love to them. for instance, if someone would take a bullet for someone else you can clearly see that that person loves the other enough to die for them. and if that person that was originally going to be the victim in this scenario would rather take the bullet for the other person, this shows great love on their part in giving out love. that is what i think.
