Well, it would depend on which locust you were referring to: The class for all of them is Insecta - that's the class of insects - but each kind of locust has a different scientific name. Every scientific name (sometimes called Latin name, because it's traditionally (but not always) made from Latin words) comes in two parts. The first word, always capitalized, is the Genus name. This is like your family name. The second, always uncapitalized, word is the species name (you'll sometimes see it referred to as the 'specific name'). This is like your first name. So, just as you are Bob Jones (if that was your name), the Desert Locust is Schistocerca gregaria. Your brother's name might be Jim Jones, while the American Desert Locust is Schistocerca americana. This tells you that they're closely related, but different species. You and your brother, of course, are the same species, so the analogy only goes so far...
