I have electronic speed control fan adjustments. It had 4 settings, low-high. Problem is only the low and high adjustment buttons work. Is there a relay switch or fuse that can be replaced to fix the problem? Any ideas as to why it's not working and what can be done to fix it yourself without having to take it to a dealership or mechanic shop? I'm fairly mechanically inclined but like I said I do not know what's causing the two fan speed adjustments in the middle to not work.

Thanks

Suthrn; you make me laugh. I did not know you were mechanically inclined. Where is this blow motor relay located? I'd imagine the engine compartment, but where?

Blower motor resistor is bad---it controls the lower fan speeds and high speed is on a separate relay. The resistor is mounted to the heater ductwork, either under the hood or usually under the dash on Toyota's by the heater fan. You could buy a new one and then look for a similiar one on the heater duct or get a service manual that shows where it's located. Toyota parts dept may have a location diagram also. Eautorepair.net has online access to factory service manuals for a small fee. Simple fix but may be a little time consuming.

It sounds to me like your driving a Republican car. Blows hot air all the time while annoying the people stuck along for the ride. It probley likes lots of oil and is difficult to turn left.

May I suggest trading it in on an independant model. Variable speed fans, able to turn either direction without much effort. And frankly the middle of the road is where I drive too.

you need a blower motor resistor for it that's what helps control the speed of the motor and also keeps it from burning up,they mount on the outside of the heater box, with two screws that hold them on,and they have a small wiring harness that goes to them, they usually cost around 20 bucks ,and take only about 5 minutes to replace, good luck on it.

Yes, you have what is called a 'blower motor relay'. Most parts supply houses should carry those.

Dodge man is correct. I meant to say resister. Like he says, easy to get to and takes a few minutes to change. Just follow his directions. Sorry about that. I'm in the office and should be concentrating on my paperwork. :)
