Personally I believe that the generation gap has been around for as long as there have been humans on earth. It is a very natural time in one's life when they are learning more about independence and wanting to cut the apron string while experimenting with new believes and fads that are occurring during that era of a teenagers life. I remember there being a generation gap between myself and my mom, grandparents etc. I'm certain that there was one when mom was a kid and was a bobby socker listening to that devil Frank Sinatra and my grandparents. Personally I feel that the generation gap that exists is a very healthy and natural stage of human development and should be viewed as a positive rather then as such a negative thing.

My personal experience is that the generation gap is closing. It seems to me that electronic media is closing the gap. People who would not normally interact because of all sorts of prejudices are now interacting online. This promotes a greater understanding.

Also we used to be divided between those who lived through the second world war and those that didn't. And those that had all their teeth and those that had none of their teeth. Most people now seem to keep their teeth for longer and those that were here in the war years are now quite elderly.

The divide between those of age 40 and those of age 18 is not so great, that's my opinion.

We should all respect one another regardless.

kids definately have more freedom nowadays, much harder to force authority upon. But also not as naive and much more aware of important issues in the world.
