Age, or the perception of age, depends on a person's genes, how well they take care of themselves, and also, their mental attitude.
A person who is cheerful, smiling, with a bright outlook, will appear younger than someone who is miserable and drawn.

I was discussing this very thing many years ago with the Chief of Medicine at our military hospital in Japan. Perhaps his answer is the best. He said the ones who look very old and burned out, despite not having reached an advanced age, did not exercise their brains on a regular basis. Activities like reading a book, working a crossword or other puzzle, etc. He said the brain is an organ like the heart and the lungs and needs to be given some sort of exercise regimen as well.

Unfortunately, much of this has to do with genetics. I have 2 brothers and one sister. We were all raised about the same...minor differences, of course, but basically the same house, same parents. 3 of us are upbeat, happy go lucky, aggressively friendly, and basically successful. One of us is negative, surly, can't seem to find his niche, and considers everything in life to be someone else's fault. He was old by the time he was 30. I am a child at the age of 66. We all meet these people daily. Some we can't get enough of, some we can't get away from quickly enough. It is just life and the luck of the draw, I am afraid. Good luck and peace, Goldwing

Hello,
I think it depends on your outlook to life and of course
the way you dress some people look older if they wear dowdy old clothes and they don't bother about their appearance if you take care of your hair, teeth, and your
general appearance it will take years off you, and then again
your genes have a lot to do with it if your Mother & Father look
young for their age then most probably you will as well and diet is important also I hope this helps.

The dour, sour, wallowing in self pity, angry at everyone and about every little thing allow that negativity to eat them alive. Causing premature aging, cancer, depression, digestive problems (choking on their own bile) and a multitude of other problems. If all that isn't a sin then it ought to be.
Others shrug off most of the downers in life and keep on keeping on. Look for something to smile about, count a laugh as an explosion permeating you, and most of all attempt to repel negative people, thoughts and most all actions.

I don't understand what you're saying. Are you asking why some people age before others. I guess it depends on how your attitude is. If you think you're old you may look old, just because of the way you dress and act.

Part of it is genetics. But I think a lot of it is attitude. It's in how we see the world. Do we roll with the punches and get over it? Do we let go of things or hold onto them?

Really, I think it is attitude. Some people can handle more difficulties in life than others. Staying involved keeps you younger.
