It's a secret held by the government. If they told you, they'd have to kill you. I think it's stored at Area 51.

Every website is held individually on a server (for small websites this means the owners computer) which is owned by the website creator or owner if they did not design it personally. Also websites pay for other servers which allow downloading and uploading to occur and sometimes even provide space to store website content other than on a personal computer or server. This is why on larger websites that have more money going in to them downloads may be faster. Servage.net is a site where you can buy a server at a monthly fee. These servers may be paid for by advertisments either going through you or through the server provider. Bandwidth is the amount people can download from a website so if you have 300gb bandwidth that much can be downloaded from your site (Everything you see on a website is downloaded to a tempory internet file and then later deleted) Once that limit is reached your site is shutdown for thew rest of the month unless you upgrade for more bandwidth or do some kind on server switch or something. So to simplifiy this all ther internet is held on other computers or a provided server which is really a giant room full of computers holding and sending information and content to you so when you download you are connected directly to their computer or server.

The internet is everywhere! It started out with universities linking information together. It just grew from there - its merely a means of transmitting data and the storage is held on peoples computers or servers.

Dear User,
The Internet isn't held any where. Servers (Windows 2003) all over the world hold different websites, and every time you go to a different website, it is a different server. Make sense?

That's right, the term "internet" is derived from the networking of computers worldwide through servers. No one person owns the internet, just a very big series of networks grouped together internationally.

I guess the Internet comes from a supercomputer that your cable or phone company has.
