if it was just nothing to begin with than how can space just be there? i know "space" is matter and stuff but where did it come from? it can't just happen from nothing? do you think that is why people turn to religion? please just post your opinions?

If you are an Atheist, the problem is solved. God, who is invisible and beyond space and time, created the space for the manifestation of the Universe. God being in a completely different space, which has no dimensions, can only be understood by Faith and Experience.

"space" is not matter and stuff. space is the area that matter and energy fit into. and according to the big bang theory, which is extremely heavily supported by the expansion of galaxies, microwave scans of the universe, and so on.

the theory says that in the beginning all of the energy in the universe was confined into an extremely small space called the 'pimevil atom'. there ws no space or time before this, now remember that space is the area that matter fits into not the matter itself. the primevil atom exploded and let forth all of the energy in the universe in one gigantic explosion that also created space and time. the energy cooled to around a billion degrees and it formed electrons and quarks, which are the building blocks of atoms.

thats the most widely accepted theory on the start of the universe and space, and it is backed up by a huge amount of evidence, despite what some nutcases on here will say.

In the first moments, the universe was infinitely dense, unimaginably hot, and contained pure energy. but witnin a tiny fraction of a second, vast numbers of fundamental particles had appeared, created out of energy as the universe cooled. within a few hundred thousand years, these particles had combined to form the first atoms.
the big bang not an explosion of space but an expansion of space and it happened every where. no one knows what happened in the first instant after the big bang, known as the PLANCK ERA, but at the end of this period, they believe that gravity split from the forces of nature, followed by a strong nuclear force. many believed this event triggered INFLATION a short but rapid expansion. if infation did occur, it helps to explain why the universe seems so smooth and flat. during inflation, a fantastic amount of mass-energy came into existance, in tandem with an equal but negative amount of gravitational energy, by the end of inflation, matter had bequn to appear.
BUT WE DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED B4 BIG BANG, WHY THIS IS , IS BECAUSE SCIENTIST CNT NOT FIGURE OUT, AND ARE NOT ALOUD TO apperently we are not aloud to go any time b4 the big bang, because people believe god did it, so people have to turn to religion

That problem has not been solved, science has tracked all galaxies back to 10-43 second, there they ran into what is called a singularity, it was a pin point of energy from which space and time evolved. I hope this helps.

Well, according to the Big Bang theory, there was actually a bit of matter, which violently annihilated itself with antimatter. This created a lot of energy, and due to the theory of relativity, energy can turn into matter if it is slowed down enough.

i think that after the big bang the universe just started to expand rapidly all the gases and stuff and from then on things started to form like stars and planets. and yeah i think that religion is just what people turn to when they dont have answers
